    Cheers NG!

Strange coincidence that this and Megaman 7 should get official VC releases just a matter of weeks after I picked up the original Super Famicom carts for both...

Around 100 carts in total - 50% Super Famicom, 35% PAL SNES, 15% US SNES... mainly loose carts, but I do have quite a few CIB. I've got my original PAL SNES from back in the day and a US SNES Mini (with the tabs removed so I can play my Super Famicom carts on it too) that I imported a while back.
It was lucky I kept some of my collection from back when the SNES was current, because prices are getting crazy now. And it certainly seems a lot harder to find bargains here in the UK than it is in the US (going by the various youtube channels that specialise in 'pick-up' videos); prices at car boot sales (flea markets) and specialist retailers are more and more often comparable to mid to high end ebay prices... but it's still possible, even on ebay, to find some bargains.
I've also got a Doctor SF7 (a 'copier' device that's essentially an early version of a flash cart, but also allows you to dump your own carts) that I've modded to use a virtual floppy drive rather than the actual floppy drive it comes with - yes, you have to split roms over several floppy disks and load them into the devices ram to play them... I'll eventually upgrade to an Everdrive when they master the various special chipsets, but for now the Dr SF7 has a similar compatability.

Does anyone else here collect for retro systems?

Perhaps we can get a sub forum going for discussion and possible trading.

I also collect for GB, GBC, GBA, N64, NGC, PS1, PS2, PS3 as well as ocassional purchases for NDS, 3DS, X360... and large collections for Amiga and ZX Spectrum that I'm considering selling.

I've also got a NeoGeo CD and a Wii, but I don't play either much (damn your loading times NeoGeo CD!!!) so don't collect for them.

Sounds like a nice collection duwen. In regards to the snes I've around 70 carts just pal versions in mine. The YouTube flea markets and boot sales are crazy there always finding gems at real cheap prices. There's nothing like that here really. I rarely find any cheap retro games. Even the charity shops in my area price check everything on eBay so they don't have cheap games either. I also collect for most systems mainly only Nintendo and Sony though.

With the exception of Gameboy, it's virtually impossible to find bargains for any cartridge based systems 'in the wild' in the UK.
I'd definitely recommend getting a universal adapter for your SNES so you can play import titles (plug a PAL cart in the back, import cart in the front; the SNES reads the region lockout chip from the PAL cart but the game data from the import cart), or get a US system if you can find one cheap. Japanese Super Famicoms can be picked up for around £20 on ebay, but you'd need to mutilate the cartridge slot to get US games to fit.

A lot of the rare/expensive US and PAL titles can be bought at a fraction of the price if you hunt down the Japanese versions - I recently bought the Super Famicom version of The Firemen on ebay for £12... the last time I saw the PAL version sell it went for over £500! (admittedly, mine is just the loose cart and the PAL one was CIB, but it's still a massive saving).

It's unlikely that the official Megaman X and X2 CIAs would bring anything new to the table, Although we'll end up getting two "officially" patched ROMs with AP checkes removed. It's nice to have those two CIAs dumped and cryptofixed though and I have been looking for a Japanese Rockman X CIA for quiet sometime with now luck so far ...

This is correct, the CX4 chip was only used in Megaman/Rockman X2 and X3

Yes but CX4 is not supported in the actual VC emulator. Maybe this new version of the VC emulator add support to others special chips.
